The Nashville Predators won the Presidents’ Trophy which means they had the best regular season record in the NHL. That is in no way a guarantee that you do well in the playoffs. Well they went out with a whimper as they were crushed 5-1 by Winnipeg in Game 7 in Nashville.
The hard part, watching someone like Pekka Rinne get chased and then just sit in the tunnel.
How about the welcome Andrew McCutchen got when we showed up in Pittsburgh as a member of the San Francisco Giants.
While that was impressive, this may be more so. Shohei Ohtani’s batting practice in Denver.
But this was the most impressive. Stephen Piscotty was having the start of a good career in St. Louis. But the Northern California native’s mother was ill. She had Lou Gehrig’s disease. So what did St. Louis and Oakland do? They made a trade is off season to get Piscotty back to the bay area. His mother passed away a week ago. When he came up to bat in his first game back he received this ovation from the fans and opposing team.
These are the reasons I love baseball.
Lyoto Machida has a tendency to send folks into a retirement with a front kick to the face for the KO.
Speaking of retirement, Darian Durant has called it a career. Who, you ask? Durant played at UNC and then went on to an impressive career in the CFL. He has two Grey Cup’s to his name, threw for over 31,000 yards and 165 touchdowns. Oh, he’s only 5’11”.
