The Sunday – Back For The First Time

He’s Back

It took a while but Tiger Woods finally won a PGA event and snared his 80th PGA win. It wasn’t how he won (he played really well over four days) but the response from everyone when he did. It was one of the biggest stories of the week and the main headline on an NFL Sunday.

College Daze

Another weekend is in the books. Biggest surprise, well how bout Old Dominion beating Virginia Tech. Wow. Here are some of the best from Saturday.

Swagger….

Dude…

First Rounders

In case you live under the proverbial sports rock, you know that the Cleveland Browns won their first football game since the Obama Administration. Number one pick Baker Mayfield came in to lead the comeback which was impressive.

Almost as impressive was fellow first rounder Josh Allen leading the Buffalo Bills to a victory over the Minnesota Vikings. The Bill were a double digit underdog and put a beating on the Vikings. To add insult to injury, Allen showed his leaping ability in the win….

Better

And remember, even if you blow a double digit lead, don’t be like this guy.

The Sunday – Streaks, Rivals and Smiles

Compiled by Brad Hubbard | @bradhubbard | 9.9.2018

Saturday

Lots happened on Saturday. Streaks like ended for Kansas and Kentucky and old rivalries like Dabo v Jimbo and Colorado v Nebraska reminded us of way the traditions of college football mean so much to its fans.

And of the course the most recent tradition that has taken the country by storm is the Miami turnover chain. Now in a 7 lbs model.

Other

Saturday did not go as planned for Serena Williams or her opponent Naomi Osaka. The match was essentially stolen from the players and fans by the umpire. Now it has become a question of sexism. The difference between what a man can get away with on the court and what a woman can. In any event, Osaka’s first Grand Slam title will always be overshadowed by this.

Celebrate

Now a few of the moments that made me smile this week.

Or if you prefer….

The Sunday – The Ups And Downs

By Brad Hubbard | @bradhubbard | 9.2.2018

IT’S BACK!!!

College football is back and man is it giving us some awesome moments in the first full weekend. The major takeaway, don’t schedule Appalachian State in week one.

Best tackle of the weekend, how bout the ref.

And a great moment in the Maryland vs Texas game as Maryland lined up without a right guard to honor the late Jordan McNair.

RESPECT

Jose Mourinho has had a tough start to the 2018-19 campaign. Things came to a boil after their 3-0 loss to Tottenham in Manchester. Mourinho got a little testy in the post match press conference.

Respect will be given to former US National team striker Clint Dempsey who retired this week from the game of soccer. Dempsey brought swagger and some incredible moments throughout his career. He will be sorely missed.

Baseball

Giants and Dodgers at it again…

And McCuthen provides a recap…

Nice catch.

But a better throw.

This happened over a week ago but hey, it’s still amazing.

So He’s Too Old?

Wayne Rooney showing once again that it takes no talent to hustle.

And in other MLS news, FC Dallas has a special way of waiting out severe weather.

Best Part About Living In Cleveland

If Browns win = break glass and get a beer.

WOW!

This is flat out nuts.

Goals And Pandemonium

What’s better? Scoring the goal in the Word Cup or celebrating?

A Day

Have one Mr Reynolds.

And have one LA Angles.

Overshadowed

Nothing overshadows a champion with 2 belts in 2 different weight classes than pushing and shoving after the fight.

Finally

The Washington Capitals finally got their cup. That means that Alex Ovechkin lifted the Stanley Cup. A trophy he’s been chasing and one most people thought he’d lifted many, many years earlier. Bottom line, Ovechkin became part of a team that was able to get over the hump (the Eastern Conference Semi’s). Once that was complete, the rest was almost a inevitable.

Heck, even the rivals gave a tip of the cap.

Baseball and then Baseball

Did this just happen? Yep. Not exactly something that Major League Baseball want’s fans to see.

This on the other hand is what Major League Baseball does want you to see.

Cold Blooded

The Golden State Warriors dynasty run continues. A sweep of the Cleveland Cavaliers. While game four was of course the official end, game three was the dagger and it was delivered by on Kevin Durant.

Impressive

Watch the whole thing. It’s an impressive feat. A clear example of never, ever giving up. Even when the odds look impossible.

Well Played

Wow!

Right to the gut.

Sign this kid up.

Nolan being Nolan.

What The?

Goodbye Buffon

The Good Side

WOOOOWWWW

Gotta love the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Better

One of the great things about sports is that it reminds us how good we can be as human beings.

Always love these moments.

It takes more than just the players.

Watch Out!

Scary moment during the Cubs v Rockies game. Fortunately Bryant wasn’t seriously hurt. He’s doing as good as can be expected.

Bryce Harper did something very impressive, he hit a home run while breaking his bat. Damn.

The Stanley Cup Playoffs

It’s arguably the best postseason in all of sports. And the opening games proved why.

The scoring….

Passing….

Saves…

The game winner…

And how excited are people in Las Vegas about the Golden Knights? Well how bout this send off for Game 3.

Buzzer Beater

Well the NBA Playoffs started too, and this was an awesome shot to send the game into OT.

Make Ya Smile

This is just a great story. A professional career stuck in the minors and when you get the call, you light it up.

Then there is this. Rex Culpepper throws a touchdown. It may not sound like a big deal but to him it is. In fact, he starts his second round of chemo on Monday because he is battling testicular cancer.

The Sunday – Bringing Back The Beauty

The Beautiful Game

Cristiano Ronaldo did it again. He did the amazing that even gave  the opposing clubs fans a reason to stand and cheer.

Well, that’s an amazing save.

The Masters

Even if you hate golf, you have to like these.

Well It’s Baseball

Things you’d expect to see in minor league baseball are now in the majors such as,

A bald eagle landing on a player…..

Snow storm for a home opener….

And a hockey stick for an opening pitch.

While ejections can weaker and weaker.

Walk Off

Two of the better, and stranger, walk offs you’ll see.

And then there was this in the 14th inning.

Ugly And Good

The UFC’s biggest star did this….

Which took a couple of fighters off of the UFC 223 card. Then NYPD did this…

But remember, there are more good folks in sports then there are bad. While McGregor did what he did and was charge with a crime, Tennessee Titans quarterback did this for the Special Olympics.
