The Sunday – Moving On

We’ve had better Saturday’s in the world. Despite the return of Premier League

A Harper Down

Even if you are not a Washington Nationals fan, seeing one of the games best players go down with a possible season ending injury is just a punch to the gut.

With Bryce Harper out, the Nationals could be in a lot of trouble when it comes to the post season.

Hey OBJ! I Raise.

As the American sports media continues to fall over itself when it comes to the New York Giants Odell Beckham Jr’s catches, Yorkshire Vikings player Jack Leaning made what may be the most impressive catch in all of sports.

Fan For Life

This kid didn’t get the ball, but it’s a story he will have the rest of his life.

Crash

The Tour de France is full of interest this year. If it’s not cyclists being kicked out, it’s horrific crashes that make you wonder how these guys do it. Ritchie Porte is out of the Tour with a fractured pelvis and clavicle.

Goals

This was a world class goal by a world class player.

Not Good

Not sure what Hamilton’s Will Hill was thinking here but it didn’t end well for him. He was thrown out of the game.

Nolan Being Nolan

There is a benefit to living in Denver, Colorado and being a baseball fan. That is that you get to watch Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado work. Or as we say in Denver, ‘Nolan being Nolan.’

Just A Little Taste

The Grab

Tim Tebow, who once threw touchdown passes, shows that he can catch baseballs.

Finishes

But how bout Jordan Spieth sinking this one from the bunker to win the Travelers Cup last weekend.

The Series

There were people out there who thought that a Pittsburgh v Nashville Stanley Cup Final would be a ratings downer. Wrong. Apparently ratings are up and pretty substantially.

The Final has not been without it’s controversy. The fact is that even if the Pittsburgh wins this series which is likely, will it tarnish Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin? Nashville’s P.K. Subban has clearly gotten under the skin of his Team Canada teammate and also that of Malkin.

Crosby is one of the few NHL players that transcends the sport. Is it good for hockey if he is doing what he did above? Yes Subban can get under your skin. That’s part of his game as one of the better defensemen in the league but Crosby and Malkin need to rise above. Not only for themselves but also for their team and for the league.

Bye Bye Big Game Bob

Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops stepped down abruptly this week at the ripe old age of 56. He over course will stay on at OU as ‘special assistant to the Athletic Director’ meaning he gets paid to go do some fund raising.

He has 190 wins (most in Oklahoma history) and one national title (2000). He was nicknamed ‘Big Game Bob’ for his ability to win big games early in his 18 year career as head coach at Oklahoma. It was a nickname that some mocked later on going 0-3 in National Title games after winning his first and only title. Oklahoma did have 4 Heisman Trophy winners during his time as head coach and nine former assistants have gone on to become head coaches.

What?

LeBron showing why he is The King.

This is just mean…

…and so is this.

Moment of the Week

Let’s face it, the only thing missing from this picture is Gisele.

Beat The Freeze

Not sure when or why the Atlanta Braves started this but it’s amazing….

The Sunday – Achieving Goals

600

Mr Albert Pujols. He is the quietest major leaguer to ever get to 600 home runs and only the 6th one to do it in history. Up next on his Hall of Fame – to – be – career? 3,000 hits.

Fight!

Now for the bad side of baseball, a revenge beaning followed by a fight. But first, the history between Bryce Harper and Hunter Strickland.

And now the replay..

It is good to know that neither Harper or Pujols will be threatened by UFC President Dana White when it comes to hitting a baseball.

It’s Good To Have Goals

Juventus may have lost the Champions League final but we all won when Mario Mandzukic made this one in the first half.

And now for the rest….

Just for Kicks

It’s all fun and games until someone turns out the lights with a head kick.

Defending The Plate

So You Want To Be  A Major League Baseball Player?

Good, then try to hit these….

But if you can, hopefully you can do it like Mike Trout. Cause….damn.

Sign The Bunny Up

Let’s face it, you won’t see a better tackle than this all year long. Someone is going to sign the Easter Bunny to an NFL contract.

Trolling

What’s better than sweeping your rival in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs? Having the mascot troll all the people who didn’t pick you to win.

Wow!

Darlington Nagbe is up to his old awesome goal scoring tricks again.

And Charlie Blackmon showing you that hustle really does pay off.

Ouch

The NHL season wraps up today and here are some last minute contenders for Save of the Year.

The Quick-ness by Jonathan Quick.

The Robbery…

Nothing but stick….

Madison the Destroyer

An MLB first, a pitcher hits not one but two home runs on opening day. Bad news, he didn’t even get the win as the SF Giants bullpen blew the game.

End of the Run

Regardless of if the Mississippi State women’s basketball team wins the National Title game on Sunday, they have already accomplished the impossible. They defeated the previously unbeaten UCONN Huskies in the semifinal of the Final Four on a last second shot by the shortest person on the floor.

This was UCONN’s first loss in 111 games. To put that in perspective, the last time they lost was 865 days ago or if you prefer, November of 2014. Mississippi State’s victory is officially one of the greatest upsets of all time.

Fights

Schweinsteiger

Bastian SchweinsteigerBastian Schweinsteiger brings a bit of experience with him to the Chicago Fire. A decade plus playing for Bayern Munich and 120 plus appearances with the German National team which included a World Cup championship in 2014.

Despite his pedigree, some members of the media were either utterly nervous or just didn’t know their sport.

And of course he scores in his first game.

Scares

Scary moments in Philadelphia as starting goalie Michal Neuvirth collapsed on the ice. He was unconscious for a bit but was moving and awake when he was taken off the ice via a stretcher.

He was still in the hospital as of this morning. On a better note, the backup goalie was called up that day from the minors and barely made it in time for the game. Then the emergency goalie for the Flyers, Eric Sembrowski, almost got into the game with 24 seconds remaining. Unfortunately Sembrowski wasn’t allowed to play due to some NHL rules. The Flyers fans let the refs know that they didn’t approve.
